And so, my journey has begun. I am now actively looking for comics, and again, scouring the internet (looking at the first page of google) in search of comics I really should be reading! I’m slowly but surely attempting to get my head around the fact that there have been different ages of comic books, from Gold to Silver, Silver to Bronze and then Bronze to Modern. I have to say that my personal favourites seem to be the Modern era, with their darker characters and more complex plots and themes. And it’s easy to find an end or crossover point with DC as they finished up their bronze age comics with “Crisis on Infinite Earths” which, much to the dismay of my fiancee when we looked it up, resulted in the death of Supergirl! More recently there was the “Flashpoint” crossover storyline which culminated in the re-launch of all DC Comics titles with the New 52! What’s heartbreaking for a huge comic book fan such as myself is that I haven’t read any of these, I wasn’t reading any of the titles, I didn’t know it was going on and it has seriously re-adjusted the image I had in my head of how much of a comics fan I was! I’m a casual fan apparently, a tag along, a glory hunter or your average Manchester United fan. (although this is now swinging to Man City!)

There’s also been a lot of suggestions for me to check out creator owned comics, more independent stuff like Invincible, Bedlam, East of West and I really want to check these out too at some point, but I think I’d be spreading myself out like butter over too much bread ( That’s right, I’ll plagerise Bilbo Baggins!) and think I should concentrate on the “major players” so to speak who have shaped my views and opinions on comic books and superheros!
I mean, I would have loved to have been there during the Marvel “Civil War”, recoiling in horror with the rest of you as Steve Rogers was gunned down, or been there when Barry Allen woke up in the altered reality of “Flashpoint”. I’ve seen the films, watched the cartoons and played with and collected the action figures, but damn if it isn’t time I dived into the source material. That’s where you guys are voting on my first port of call! So far, it’s looking like All Star Superman is going to be the winning one! Who knows, they may all tie, which would mean I’m going to have a MASSIVE amount of reading to do! Keep voting on the comments sections and I’ll be tallying the votes via my trusty pencil and paper and I’ll let you know which it’s going to be on Monday 10th of June!

I was wondering which were the best Batman action figures never made?
Getting back on track though, I mentioned action figures, well I remember all those awesome Batman figures you could get, where he had a drill, a rocket launcher, a kettle and toaster and a copy of the Radio Times and a fruit scone, and I was wondering which were the best Batman action figures never made, with my own little list of #ToysThatShouldBeReal here:
Have any suggestions yourselves? Tweet me with the hash tag #ToysThatShouldBeReal and your suggestion and the best entry will win pride, honour and a shout out in my next post! I also love having you guys involved with naming each post, therefore tweet me your suggestions with the hashtag #TheNameGame and I’ll add them to my list for use in the future! Thank you for all the lovely comments etc etc, keep stroking my ego you lovely lot!

The Watchtower
Now, like a tree, I must leave, there’s a knocking on the door and some strange, muscular people dressed in some weird lycra all in ones there with a book called “The Watchtower”, I think they’re Kryptonian Witnesses. Until next time!
