With a history as detailed as Carol Danvers, it’s a shame that she isn’t a household name. Marvel doesn’t have a whole lot (?) if any female lead comics on the shelves today so it’s refreshing to see Carol get another shot at a solo series (her previous run of Ms. Marvel ended in 2010) as the new Captain Marvel.

The series begins with a great fight scene that really helps to illustrate who the new Captain Marvel is.
The Positive
The series begins with a great fight scene that really helps to illustrate who the new Captain Marvel is. Carol delivers the punches as well as she delivers the one liners and it’s great to see some other cameos during the issue as well (Does Whatever a Cameo Can) that bring some great light hearted comedy moments too.

Carol delivers the punches as well as she delivers the one liners and it’s great to see some other cameos during the issue as well
The Negative
The artwork is abit questionable; the illustrations on the cover are nothing like what we get inside the issue. The costume takes awhile to get use to, and the issue doesn’t explain how Captain Marvel got her new duds.
The Verdict
The first issue of Captain Marvel is off to a great start. The comic has some small missteps but nothing to derail what looks to be a start to something epic.
