The Sixth Gun tells the story of six pistols with otherworldly powers. One of these guns (the most dangerous) surfaces years later in the hands of an innocent girl. The forces of darkness reawaken and along with them come men long thought dead who have set their sights on retrieving the gun and killing the girl. The only person standing in their way is Drake Sinclair, a mysterious gunfighter.

THE SLOPES OF KEILIMANJARO #001 – “REVIEW – FLASH #0″

THE SLOPES OF KEILIMANJARO #001 – “REVIEW – FLASH #0″

As we are all well aware, September was DC Comic’s Zero Month. It makes sense to me, therefore, that the beginning of my reviews here should be the start (chronologically speaking) of one of my favourite New 52 titles, The Flash. The Flash #0 opens with a question; “Why are you here, Barry?”. It’s a good question, both in context of the story being told, and in a wider sense.

THE BURRITO BANDITO #029 – “REVIEW – DEADPOOL VOL. 4 #1”

THE BURRITO BANDITO #029 – “REVIEW – DEADPOOL VOL. 4 #1”

Being a huge fan of Deadpool and a big fan of Daniel Way’s Deadpool run; I was very exciting going into this series. The big problem when you get a character like Deadpool, is balancing the humor and action. We often get very different approaches and interpretations of the character (Daniel Way and Rick Remender) and that may confuse some readers.

THE BURRITO BANDITO #028 – “REVIEW – IRON MAN VOL. 5 #1”

THE BURRITO BANDITO #028 – “REVIEW – IRON MAN VOL. 5 #1”

Marvel NOW! kicks off it’s first week with a relaunch for one of the cornerstones of the Marvel Universe, Iron Man. What’s interesting about this series is that we are not seeing the same old Tony Stark (though he is still very much the playboy type he always has been) but we are seeing a Tony that is beginning to question his role in this Universe.

THE BURRITO BANDITO #027 – “REVIEW – UNCANNY X-FORCE #33”

THE BURRITO BANDITO #027 – “REVIEW – UNCANNY X-FORCE #33”

The Final Execution storyline has been going for while now, and with every passing issue the series continues to get more dark and hopeless. We are now behind the 8 ball as Evan (clone of Apocalypse) has been mentally and physically tortured by the New Brotherhood (lead by Daken, son of Wolverine) into becoming what the X-Force feared he would become.

THE BURRITO BANDITO #026 – “REVIEW – AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #696”

THE BURRITO BANDITO #026 – “REVIEW – AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #696”

There are Two Hobgoblins in New York City?! This cannot be good for your friendly neighborhood Peter Parker?! Due to a new tech weapon that has sent Spider-Man’s Spider Sense into hyper drive, Peter was helpless as the new Hobgoblin captured him and took him back to Shadowland and the Kingpin. The new Hobgoblin kidnapped Peter and has demanded a ransom (a briefcase Spider-Man snagged a few issues ago) that he has ordered Spider-Man bring to Shadowland.

THE BURRITO BANDITO #025 – “REVIEW – FLASH VOL. 4 #13”

THE BURRITO BANDITO #025 – “REVIEW – FLASH VOL. 4 #13”

The Flash is known for his blazing speed and writer Francis Manapu and artist Brian Buccellato are doing a fantastic job of giving a comic that isn’t slow and dull but exciting and fast. Some may complain about the fact that the Flash seems to be fighting a new villain every comic (and sometimes his entire Rogue…see Flash Annual #1) but I for one am really enjoying the entire series.

PROJECT COMICS #006 – REVIEW “GEEK GIRL #0”

PROJECT COMICS #006 – REVIEW “GEEK GIRL #0”

In Geek Girl #0 we’re introduced to Ruby Kaye, a popular teenager who wins a pair of super-tech glasses in a game of strip poker. These glasses grant her several super-powers including flight and super-strength, but come at a price; super-klutziness. Characterisation is a strong area in Geek Girl #0. Ruby is an initially unlikeable, opportunistic, and shallow girl, but her fall from grace makes for an interesting read.

FLODO’S TALE #005 – STRANGE DAYS – GREEN LANTERN #0 & GREEN LANTERN #13

FLODO’S TALE #005 – STRANGE DAYS – GREEN LANTERN #0 & GREEN LANTERN #13

As most geeks of any repute will no doubt be aware September was “zero month” in the DC universe. After a year of getting to know our heroes DC decided that it was high time to drop a few origin stories in our laps. Where Green Lantern differed to most of the rest of these books is that we didn’t get the origin to either of the characters we have been following in the title over the previous 12 months, Hal Jordan and Thal Sinestro.

THE ONLY WAY IS GEEK #004 – “THOUGHTS ON DC’S #0 MONTH…”

THE ONLY WAY IS GEEK #004 – “THOUGHTS ON DC’S #0 MONTH…”

One of the advantages of my laptop sadly being out of commission for the past few weeks is that it has given me a chance to look back on DC’s #0 month as a whole. Like most DC fans, I was looking forward to an easy entry into titles not previously read, as well as reading up on the back stories of my regular pull list. I was also hoping it would breathe new life into titles I’ve cancelled over the last twelve months.

THE COMIC ASYLUM #010 – BATMAN #13 (THE MOST ICONIC COMIC OF THIS GENERATION!…)

THE COMIC ASYLUM #010 – BATMAN #13 (THE MOST ICONIC COMIC OF THIS GENERATION!…)

I asked how dark Batman would have to get to top the Dark Knight Trilogy earlier on. The answer lies within the pages of Batman #13 and I think it will be a long time before another comic can even be placed in the same bracket as this gem.

KYLE’S COFFEE CORNER #003 – “MONKEY SQUAD ONE”

All of my loyal and devoted readers know that I stopped doing reviews some time ago. When I first started out I was very much into doing something I called a “Pleasant Review.” Anyway, it turns out the reviews were not only pretty good on their own, but because of the positive nature of my writing, a lot of creators were asking if I had the time to have a look at their book.

PROJECT COMICS #005 – REVIEW “DAREDEVIL: YELLOW”

PROJECT COMICS #005 – REVIEW “DAREDEVIL: YELLOW”

Daredevil: Yellow is a 6-part Marvel mini-series written by Jeph Loeb with art by Tim Sale (Batman: The Long Halloween; Batman: Dark Victory), that was originally published in 2001. The story concerns the origin and early days of Daredevil as told by The Man Without Fear himself through letters to his murdered former lover Karen Page.

THE BURRITO BANDITO #024 – “REVIEW – UNCANNY AVENGERS #1”

THE BURRITO BANDITO #024 – “REVIEW – UNCANNY AVENGERS #1”

Havok, Rogue and Scarlet Witch have very big parts in this issue and it appears that Remender has big things planned for them in this series. When the team was first announced, I was a bit skeptical but Remender does a great job at making the reader feel that every member belongs on the team for a reason, expect for one.

KYLE’S COFFEE CORNER #002 – “A SHOUT OUT TO UNSTOPPABLE COMICS & STORMCHASERS”

My Twitter career, so to speak, has been like anything else, a cycle of ups and downs. And while it truly is a garden of awesomeness it can also be filled with not-so-awesomeness. I’m ok with the cycle and the process and mainly because of the awesome fans I meet and the Pro’s like Jay Rosario at Unstoppable comics.
